FAQ

What is Lakeside Country Inn’s cancellation policy?

We require a credit card number to guarantee your reservation. Our cancellation policy varies with the season, room, and length of stay. Because of our small size, cancellations and no shows affect us significantly. For this reason, cancellations must be made as per our cancellation policy. In the unlikely event that you cannot give us the required notice, shorten your stay or check out early, we hope that you can understand that we must ask you to take responsibility for your entire reservation. If we can rebook your room(s), a full or partial refund may be made. We appreciate as much notice as possible when you have to cancel. Your credit card will be charged if you are unable to give us the required cancellation notice.

Please allow 48 hours to change or cancel your reservations for a one or two night stay in our Veranda Room or Lakeview Room. Reservations for three or more nights, long weekends, Deluxe Lakeview Room, Two Bedroom Kitchenette and One Bedroom Kitchenette are subject to a 30 day cancellation policy. Cancellation notice required on group reservations is negotiated on booking. We will advise you which cancellation policy applies on booking.

What’s the weather like in Savona?

The mild, dry four-season climate in the Kamloops area is truly wonderful. Visitors enjoy our hot, sunny summers. Kamloops experiences over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year! The average daily temperature in June is 25 °C, July is 29 °C, August is 28 °C and in September, it is 22 °C. If it is raining here, it is probably raining throughout the province as we receive an average of only 25 cm of precipitation annually. Kamloops Lake has a moderating effect on the weather.

Can you accommodate pets?

While we understand that your pet is an important part of your family, we are not pet friendly.

Where can we eat if you are located in a small town?

Good restaurants are important on a vacation!

Many of our guests are enjoying their dinners in the clubhouse at the Tobiano Golf Course in the Black Iron Club and Grill, located about ten minutes from the Inn by car. Friendly service, reasonable prices and an amazing view of the lake and golf course make this one of our favorite places for casual dining in the summer.  If the weather is nice, you can enjoy dinner and a drink out on their patio.  Reservation are recommended, especially on weekends. Call them at 250.434,5858 prior to your arrival to avoid being disappointed because you can’t get a table.

The Upstream Café is located about a kilometer from the Inn.  It is a road side café or a truck stop that has been in Savona forever.  At the moment they are open for limited hours due to the challenges of Covid. Check with us if you would like more information prior to your arrival.

Kamloops is only half an hour away and has lots of restaurants that we can recommend.

Are you a Bed and Breakfast, a motel, or a hotel?

We don’t fit neatly into any of these accommodation categories but are considered to be a country inn. Lakeside Country Inn has the ambiance, and personalized service you experience at a bed and breakfast, but with some differences.

Unlike a bed and breakfast where breakfast is included in your rate, breakfast is optional for our guests.  We offer both room only and bed and breakfast rates.  Some rooms have their own kitchenettes which gives you the option of making your own breakfast or you may simply prefer to have breakfast at the local diner.

Like a motel (and unlike many bed and breakfasts), all of our rooms have a private outside entrance and ensuite bathroom, as well as their own TV, coffee maker, bar fridge, and balcony or patio.  We do not have a common area where you will watch TV or play cards.

However we have shaded gardens with lounges and Adirondacks where you can read a book, enjoy the sunset and meet other guests.

You will find that we are a friendly place to stay and welcome conversation, but we are also happy to allow you your privacy. You can come and go as you like. It’s all up to you.

While we realize that we will not be the right place for everyone, it is important to us that we are the perfect place for you.  Therefore please email or give us a call if you are still wondering what your experience will be like when you stay with us.

What else do I need to know about staying at a Country Inn?

Country inns are not an appropriate place for guests who want to party.  We are a small intimate property and rely on our guests to respect each other.  If you are coming back late at night or getting up early, please keep in mind that others may be sleeping. Our guests expect peace and quiet and therefore we do not allow parties or events of any kind.

Do I have to let you know when I will be arriving?

No, as we are available to welcome our guests anytime between 3 pm and 7 pm.  If you are arriving earlier or later, please be sure to get in touch with us.  We live at the Inn and therefore are always available in any emergency.
